The Bracknell Forest Standard reported a heart-warming philanthropic gesture this week, when a wholesale distributor donated a new batch of computer equipment to a local school.
Westcoast Computers handed over a number of notebook laptops, new server and software to staff at the Robert Piggott CE Infant School in Beverley Gardens.
Sally Akers, headteacher, said: “Westcoast’s kindness enables our children to use the most current computer technology. The staff and governors have a strong commitment to the use and continuous development of information communication technology (ICT) in our school.
“Computer skills have become essential, along with the three Rs and it is important that we give future generations of children the best start that we can.”
The contribution comes courtesy of Westcoast chairman Joe Hemani, who lives in Wargrave. “My children went to the Piggott schools, and I understand the pressures they are under to grasp ICT skills,” he said.
